County Longford 13/10/2012





The Health and Safety Authority visited the C&D Foods plant in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford on Monday 15th October, after an ammonia leak that led to the evacuation of the plant on Saturday 13th October. Units from Longford Fire Services were called to the pet food manufacturing plant after locals reported a strong smell of ammonia in the town and in a children's playing area near the plant. The fire services worked for four hours to help contain a leak of ammonia at the plant.

Dublin Airport Fire & Rescue Service & the Dublin Fire Brigade at the scene of a blaze at Boland's vehicle recycling facility, on the Old Swords Road on Sunday night and Monday morning last. The fire reached such an intensity that Dublin Airport feared it might have to close its runways because of the smoke.

Arklow Fire service were called to bales of hay that were set alight maliciously at a farm on the outskirts of Arklow on Thursday 20th Sept. Luckily the fire did not spread to nearby bales.

Gardaí are treating a fire which broke out in a pub in Dublin city centre on Saturday night 6th Oct as an accident. Around 40 people were in Bowe's Pub on Fleet Street when the blaze was noticed shortly after 9.30pm. The building was evacuated, and no-one was injured. It is understood the fire occurred in the basement and caused smoke damage to the pub. Fire Crews from Tara St. Station were in attendence.

Fire Crews from Louth County Council Fire & Rescue on scene at a fire which was confined and no one was injured in the Ard Dealgan apartments in Quay Street, Dundalk, Co Louth, on Sunday 9th September which was reported at 6.30pm and extinguished 90 minutes later.

More than a dozen emergency personnel took part in a dramatic rescue operation early Sunday 19th August when five people including three gardai were plucked from the steep banks of the Royal Canal after a young woman fell 30 feet into the water.

In total, 19 officers from the Dublin Fire Brigade stations at Blanchardstown and Phibsborough including its Swift Water Rescue and Highline Rope Rescue units took part in the two-hour rescue that began shortly after 1am.

The scene of the Bus Eireann fire on the M1 North at the Toll plaza outside Drogheda on the 10/07/2012. One occupant of the bus was removed to Our lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda and the 10 other people on board made there way off the bus and were catered for at the toll plaza by staff.

Extensive damage was caused to a pub on the south side of Dublin when a fire broke out at 4am on the morning of Sunday 24th of June. Several units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene of the Merrion Inn in Dublin 4. It took several hours to bring the fire under control.

Fire at the Panda waste facility on the outskirts of Slane Co Meath. Eight units of the Fire Service from Meath and Louth attended the scene at the hight of the blaze. Units remained at the scene for up to 36hrs after the fire was brought under control. Up to 700 tonnes of recycled waste was involved in the blaze.

Firefighters are currently at the scene of a Fire in two retail premises on Main Street in Wicklow Town. Area around the scene is closed off and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Dublin Airport 16/04/2012



A transatlantic flight made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport today after a passenger's mobile phone was found recharging in a toilet. The Delta Airlines flight, which was carrying over 200 passengers, made the landing after reports of a suspicious item on board. It was travelling from Istanbul to New York.

Upon roll out on landing on runway 10 the wheel brakes overheated and this situation was promptly, and efficiently attended to by the DAA fire service.

County Wicklow 13/04/2012



The Vevay Inn on the Vevay road in Bray has been destroyed in a overnight fire. Fire units from Bray, Greystones, Wicklow and a water tanker from Dublin attended the blaze. Such was the extent of the fire houses close to the premises had to be evacuated. There were no reports of any injuries. During the course of the fire the ladders on the fire units had to be taken down as the seaside town was hit by a mini tornado and freak storm.

On 17th March (St. Patricks Day) Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) recieved a report of a fire in a derelict building at the corner of Benburb Street and Queen Street.

Five units of the Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire and no-one was injured. An engineer from the Department of Dangerous Buildings within Dublin City Council has been sent to examine the building to see if it should be pulled down.

Two units of the fire service from Drogheda attended the scene of a house fire in the Beechgrove area of Drogheda on the 17/03/2012. Two occupants were removed from the house and taken by Ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

Drogheda Fire Service were called to a car fire where minutes earlier it had been used ia a robbery at a Tesco superstore. The car was abandoned and set alight in a housing estate in the town.

Businessman Bobby Kerr has said that Bang Cafe will reopen "with a bang" despite the extensive fire at the restaurant. The exclusive venue on Merrion Row in Dublin was hit by a fire yesterday, closing down part of the city centre street. But the owner and Dragons' Den star said that damage was minimal and praised the quick reaction of Dublin Fire Brigade.

"The fire was in the upper floor which is mainly in the staff changing room, toilets and laundry area," he told the Herald. "The fire brigade were there in a couple of minutes. "It looks like it was an electrical fault. Thankfully there were very few people in there at the time no customers everyone is fine." Eyewitnesses described how the entire street was engulfed with smoke within minutes.

This is the winding down of a fire on Tuesday 21/2/2012 where a trailer full of tyres was on fire and to make things that bit more interesting there was also a downed live electricity cable.

The photos show D131 finishing up but D51 and DO Foxtrot attended also. The ESB managed the cable and the Gardai closed off the road.

A Major Fire in New Ross, Co Wexford was brought under control after 6hrs Friday (20/01/2012). A number of apartments at an apartment block on the quay had caught fire and were in flames. Six units of the fire service are still at the scene.
